For the last few weeks my emotions have been in a tizzy...
it happens every year
always around mid May
when the school buzz wrap up starts to hit...
I feel the shift in the air
school treasures begin to trickle home
my chickadees start dropping hints that another year of learning will be taking a hiatus
this is our last list of spelling words
really?
we just finished the Social Studies text book
really?
their journal books are full
i told them i was more then willing to staple empty pages in them so they can continue on...
really it's not any trouble at all!
a little bird told me they were running low on glue sticks in their classroom..
I quickly made a mad dash to Target and happily sent in glue sticks for all the kindergarten children in my son's class...
so they can continue crafting, gluing till their hearts content!
I feel torn because i love summer and my kiddos being home
I love the the carefree spirit that summer brings
I love the slower mornings
the late night swims
our home turns into a B&B
to all our friends, family....
for all to travel to our Casa for some much need R&R
I stock the fridge with plenty of lemonade, ice tea
the freezer is always filled with an assortments of Popsicles,
the smell of sunscreen will once again be a permanent aroma throughout these months of warmth
wet bathing suits will find themselves littering my bathroom floors

but it also means...
my kindergartner, my baby, will be a First Grader
gulp
it means my sweet second grader will be a Third Grader
gulp
it means i will be a parent of a middle schooler
we will have yet another school to learn about, new friends to meet.... it's much, much bigger
gulp, gulp
&
she will be doing it without the side by side comfort of her sisters and brother
gulp, gulp, gulp
it means I will not have a Freshmen any more....
in 3 weeks I will have a
High School Sophomore
really
wasn't it just yesterday...
that i was watching her begin her Freshmen climb
&
I'm here to tell you there are no words that can begin to describe how proud I am of her
not only has she done the work
she's done it with excellence
dedication
courage
integrity
is that my children are thriving
they are growing~ intellectually, spiritually
&
i'm a sappy mess!!!
thanks for being there for me to sap away...&
BTW, I just had to show you pictures of my latest passion
for vinyl!!
You see, I reupholstered by kitchen chairs in
vinyl, which i ordered from Fabric.com without a swatch....
4 yards and 6 chairs later
I couldn't be more thrilled!
Cheers to YOU!!!!

I love your VINYL! I want to know what the color is of the walls in your kitchen................
Kids are the treasures of our world! I miss having little bodies around the house in the summer. Enjoy them!
This was such a sweet post! Our children are adults now but reading this post brought back great memories! Your kitchen is simply gorgeous!! Love the vinyl and thanks so much for your visit to my blog. It blessed me so much that you took the time to visit and leave a comment.

oh Lulu i too love summer, when the daily grind slows to a halt and we spend lazy mornings in our pj's and late nights watching tv on the back porch but my baby goes off to Kinder and i can't even believe that in a few months i'll be alone for the first time in nearly 12 years! oh how i wish we were close by i know we would have some good talks!! sending a big hug, have a beautiful weekend!! xo susan
I am a sappy mess too. My "baby" will be a Freshman, my little girl will be in 7th grade, and my bitties will be in 2nd grade. I can't handle it! The flurry of paperwork at the end of the year is making me nuts. I can't wait for them to be home...but I'm also in all out panic mode...trying to finish up way too many projects! :)
My kitchen, hallway paint color is Bleeker Beige by Benjamin Moore.
xo,
LuLu

I love, love, love summer with my girls too.
But, it is always bittersweet...because the school year does go sooooooo quickly and then I have to face the fact that they are going into the next grade. Two 9th grades and one 8th grader this year :(
I am a sap right there with you - my kids would confirm that. I am the BIGGEST sap. Glad we have that in common!!
Have a wonderful weekend,
xo

Love your vinyl. Brilliant.
Share your feelings about summer...could those kiddos just stop getting older? Pretty please.
Just spotted the basket you picked up from me at Chartreuse tucked under your island - it looks fabulous there!
I'm feeling the same way you are - weepy over my children growing up way too fast! My oldest will also be a sophomore and my youngest a 7th grader - already!
Have a great weekend!
Gail

I'm right there with you, crying my way home from dropping them off in the mornings. Knowing I will have a high schooler next year... I want the time to stop.
i hear ya friend. i'm a sappy mess too. my big chick is moving on to 6th grade. she's almost as tall as me all of a sudden. she's growing and changing. we even shaved under her arms recently. gulp! it's a little much to take in. this parenting thing is so emotionial. i completely get it. at least you're not alone:)
You know
that so many
of us are right
there, gulping {!}
alongside of you.
We are visiting
colleges this summer

changing. But they
are both thriving and
