My once uninspiring and unorganized little closet is now a happy little closet all because of it's new color! Painting the closet was the perfect motivation I needed to get myself to finally come up with an organizational system that will work for my family.Besides the new paint color, the biggest change was adding a cubby system. Finding one with six cubbies turned out to be perfect solution... one for each member of the family! I'm still having too much fun labeling everything, I just had to add some numbers into the mix! Therefore, I used my glue gun to label the cubbies 1 through 6 and assigning everyone a number... started with hubby and ended with the youngest. I am constantly coming across library books from the kids that I find on tables or beds and come library day I hear, " Mom have you seen my library books?" Now, I can place books and other items we need when we are heading out the door in their cubbies.
Added a wooden shelf to the top for storing four boxes. The boxes are holding extra winter gear, sunscreen and miscellaneous item that find there way into a coat closet. The last touch I added was placing a Smith & Hawkens garden tray on the floor ( I purchased one two weeks ago and loved it so much I needed a second one). It fit the space perfectly.

While I was "vintaging" this weekend I came across a "Sap Bucket"... yep, a bucket to collect sap from Maple Trees! How could I not bring a sap bucket home to hold my umbrella's... actually I had a couple other things I would have loved to do with it.... but I had to remind myself it was for the umbrella's that needed a home.
There you have it. The closet that asked for a new color is completed! My second project for this year is done and it is only January 18. What should i tackle next? My wheels are already spinning... any suggestions? I would love to hear them! I just may get a lot accomplished this year... wouldn't that feel great!

That color turned out great! I'll have to remember that color if I ever need a green. I love it! That sap bucket is so cool.
Very nice! I have a closet the same size by my front door. The backpacks caught my eye...I like that you put them low for your little ones to grab. My 5 yr old can't reach anything in our closet...we all take turns helping her to put things away. Love the cubby idea...I have a canvas one like that in my closet that I'm not using...hmmmm....
thanks for the inspiration. Keep going!
Hi LuLu :)
The closet turned out perfect!! I love the cubby system and the sap bucket is a really cute idea :)
Loved the paint by number collection. People look at me funny when I take pictures too, especially when I tell them why LOL

You have inspired me to repaint and redo my hall closet. Living in Phoenix we don't have an awful lot of winter gear, coats, etc. so I have been using it for other storage. Still I think I could use a place for guests to park their things....and we do have umbrellas even though we don't use them a lot.:) You've got the wheels in my head turning!

Oh it turned out great. I'd have to seriously whittle down our winter collection to get mine to look that organized! Good for you.
Love that you painted the closet!
Now, get yourself over to Nesting Place and email me because you and your lucky self just won the kisses and Hugs necklace from Lisa Leonard Designs!
I just found your blog through Nester, hope you don't mind! :o) I've been racking my brain trying to come up with a super cheap and functional way to organize my closet and have a place to put purses, wallets, and kid stuff. Thanks for the fantastic idea! I'm off to find a hanging organizer!
So glad you did visit and found it to be helpfull Yea! love to pass on ideas!!
